The Story Behind Galoob’s Star Trek:TNG Toy Line

The first ever action figures based on Captain Picard and the crew of the USS Enterprise-D had a rocky start and short shelf life.  The guys over at TrekCore.com took it upon themselves to document the official story of the product line from the people who actually designed the toys for Galoob.

If you have any interest in those original 3.75-inch action figures, this is a must read.  The designers talk about why there were several Data’s with different paint jobs, the characters and playsets you would have seen in a second wave, the process of developing toys for a show that no one has ever seen and how they got rid of all of their extra Rikers.  You can read all about it here.
